LANDBASED INNOVATION & DEVELOPMENT · HEAD OFFICE · DELVIS HJEMMEKONTOR

Help us provide our fish with optimal welfare by creating tomorrow's innovative land-based facilities!

Cermaq is investing in several next-generation landbased facilities to give our salmon a safe start in life. The Landbased Innovation & Development team is deeply involved in the design, dimensioning, and operation of these. We are also advisors to Atland Corp., our owner Mitsubishi’s landbased facility to harvest size in Japan. We are therefore strengthening our team, both in competence and capacity.

The new colleague that we are looking for have a MSc or PhD - preferably process engineering, but we also warmly welcome biologists with process experience to apply.

What’s the job all about?

Projects:

  • You will be our specialist in process engineering of landbased aquaculture facilities, and a key aspect of your role will be to provide support to our Operational Companies (OpCo's) in projects. This support can e.g. be related to RAS dimensioning, design, and automation.
  • You will use your experience from similar projects and processes such as feasibility projects, engineering, construction, commissioning, start-up and testing as well as budget and cost-cutting processes. In the projects you will work with chemical, physical, and biological process questions, such as dimensioning flows, mass transports and rates of reactions.
  • Since you will spend a big part of your time working in projects with both OpCo’s and other Group functions, we hope you thrive when you collaborate with others and actively contribute to a good environment both professionally and socially.

Research & Advisory:

  • As our Process Engineer you will take part in innovation and research activities related to landbased production. These are often related to how we in Cermaq run smolt and postsmolt facilities safely and efficiently, for the fish and for our people.
  • You should have a constant focus on developing and sharing best practice. You ensure that knowledge, insight, and experiences gained throughout projects, and from research are shared with OpCo’s on a global level. By doing so you contribute to strengthening the competence in developing, building, and operating landbased facilities in Cermaq.
  • As a trusted advisor on process engineering, you support OpCo's, other Group functions, and your own team with a service-minded and operational approach.

The team & Everyday work:

As our Process Engineer you will be a part of, and an important contributor to, the Landbased Innovation & Development team where Bendik Fyhn Terjesen will be your leader.

You will mainly manage your own working day based on your responsibilities, tasks, deliveries, and appointments. Some of your tasks involve extensive collaboration, while others demand more independent work. As we operate on an international level and are lucky enough to collaborate with people from different parts of the world, we hope you are fluent in English. If you also speak Spanish or Japanese, that’s fantastic. You will mainly work at our office in Bjørvika, Oslo. Although we aim to use Teams when suitable, you will travel both in Norway and internationally.

Does this sound like a job where you would thrive as well as our fish?

If the answer is yes, then we encourage you to send us your CV and application! Writing an application letter can be challenging, so here are key points that reflect our priorities and what we would like to know about you.

  • A short introduction of yourself is a good starting point, but above all, we want to know about relevant knowledge and experience you would bring into this role:
  • Can you give an example of a time when you delivered high-quality work, by using a structured and detail-oriented method? Briefly describe your approach and the outcomes.
  • Can you share an experience from a project where you collaborated with others to achieve a common goal? Briefly describe how you contributed to the project's success.
  • Can you give an example of a time when you ensured effective communication with team or project members? Briefly describe your approach and the result.

Some practical information:

The recruitment process: We will review applications and get in touch with relevant candidates on an ongoing basis. The first step will be a short introduction where we get to know each other a bit better, and you get more information about the process moving on.

Application deadline: You can apply until 14.04.24, but the sooner the better.

Startup: What matters most is ensuring this opportunity aligns with your aspirations and that we see that there is a foundation for a productive collaboration. Therefore, we are relatively flexible when it comes to the start date. Having said that, we must admit that we would like the right candidate to join us as soon as possible.
